What a competition the #TWC2020 was! There were many unexpected twists and changes that happened during the voting. The closer we got to the final round, the more tension we could feel from the participants; but the contest is over now and we have a winner!
We send our biggest congratulations to Burakref, the ultimate winner of the Trucks World Cup 2020 Renault Trucks screenshot competition! It was not an easy road from the moment he was selected as one of the 32 participants. During one of the semi-final matches, it seemed like that he would not proceed to the final round, when in his semifinal match he lost against Ilya 29 RUS. But when we contacted his competitor, he himself said that he actually thinks that Burakref's truck is better and that he should have won instead and left the final round for him! By this decision, Burakref was back on the road and on the way to the final round! What a twist, right?!
The final round was really tough and extremely close. We actually had to go into the statistics and compare the very exact numbers of votes that came to each of our finalists, because the graphics were saying it ended 50% vs 50%. But numbers do not lie and so Burakref won with a hell-of-a-number of 6666 votes vs his competitor Spring with 6574 votes!
We really enjoyed bringing you this exciting competition and we're really glad we have been able to bring it to you along with all the really cool items in the rewards pool kindly provided by Intel, Thrustmaster, Tobii Eye Tracking, HyperX, Renault Trucks and us too. We send a big thank you to our friends at these great companies!
Our winner has made it through all levels, earning very cool prizes all the way through till the final round to claim the ultimate reward. The title of the Trucks World Cup 2020 winner, the amazing T150 Pro Steering Wheel from Thrustmaster, a very special Steam key that unlocks every DLC/map expansion we have ever released, but also ever will release for ETS2 (the second place will get one of these too!), and a secret prize provided by Renault Trucks. Unfortunately, due to the current situation around COVID19, they were unable to go through with the initial plans for this prize. However, our friends at RT are planning a new idea for the secret prize, which will be confirmed by them as soon as possible.
Those who made it to the selection of 32 participants and further, please double-check your email inbox, because we still have no replies from some of you regarding your rightful rewards. We'd love to get in touch with you to be able to send you prizes you've won, but if we do not get any reply from you by the 10th of June 2020, then we won't be able to send you the items. We also ask that you please have some patience with us, as shipping the goods to your address might take a longer time than usual due to the current world situation.
We also want to send a BIG thank you and virtual high five to every single member of our #BestCommunityEver who sent us his or her screenshots and entry to this competition, to every one of the 32 selected participants and to all those who made it through to some upper levels of this contest. We've loved every image we received! Thank you, stay awesome and we hope that soon we'll be able to bring something similar to you again!
Last week we posted a teaser image of a construction site hard at work in an unknown location within Euro Truck Simulator 2. After thousands of comments of speculation from our community, we are excited to announce what this image represents.
We are calling on you, our community, to prepare your trucks for a very special World of Trucks event to help complete the new Genoa Bridge, located in the northwest of Italy. The construction of this bridge has become a symbol of hope for Italy; with the help of thousands of industry professionals having worked around the clock for the last seven months, even during the current coronavirus outbreak, to finish this important connection.
With this project set to be completed in the near future, we plan to reflect that reality within Euro Truck Simulator 2, but this won't happen without the help of our community. We hope that you can all come together and assist in delivering the materials, equipment, and manpower needed to complete this very special project.
While we make final preparations for the start of this event, keep an eye out on our socials and blogs announcing the start of this event in the near future, tentatively in about a week from now.
It's time we take a closer look at our next upcoming state for American Truck Simulator, Idaho. We are starting off slow here, as we do not want to spoil the enjoyment of discovering the beauty of the state by showing you too much, too early.
Take a seat in the position of the driver and join us as we haul lumber from a harvest site near Sandpoint to a paper-mill factory in Lewiston. Let us know what you spot along the way!
We are excited to give you a look at what Idaho will have to offer come this year with this footage. Please note that this map expansion is actively being worked on and the contents of this raw gameplay footage may not represent the final product.

From housing to flooring, furniture and the paper in your book, wood products are more prevalent in your daily life than you may realize. The logging industry plays a large role for the economy in the United States.
In the North of Idaho (also known as the panhandle), the forest and timber industry is one of its leading economy contributors thanks to the region's rich and thick forests. For many players of American Truck Simulator, logging industries have become a favorite destination as many of them are located off-road and present a unique challenge for drivers.
Drivers can look forward to more challenging climbs between rocks as well as some tight turns which may prove difficult for longer or heavier trailers.
We will also be revisiting your favorite timber harvest sites, introducing a few new assets and 3 new timber harvesting locations as part of our newest Idaho DLC! These industries have been given a lot of love by our ATS community, and in turn we hope this will bring a fresh look to these popular industries.
Idaho will also see the introduction of a new prefab that will bring a new overall feel to the timber harvesting industry.
Like what you see? Before you log off steam, it wood be nice if you could add Idaho to your Steam Wishlist! Plus make sure to check out our Twitter & Instagram for more axe-clusive images not found on this blog post!
For those who have been closely following the various matches & voting results in the Renault Trucks #TWC2020 screenshots competition, know that the 16th of May was the last day of the group stages. This means it's time to progress forward with the next round. Before that, let us introduce the lucky contenders who have made it through to the next stage, as voted by all of you from the community!
Do you see your name among the finalists? Congratulations if you do! Make sure to check your email inboxes, as a representative from the #TWC2020 team will be in touch shortly. We will need to know how we should deliver your rewards ranging from Steam keys to merchandise from SCS Software's Eshop and Renault Trucks store! So, what happens next? Well, now things get a bit more interesting. The top 2 contestants from the original base groups will now compete against one another. One match, one chance. Winners will be rewarded and move on to the following round to get even closer to the ultimate prize. As you can see on the schedule above, winners of these rounds will compete against each other again. And it will continue this way until we get to the grand finale! And you all are still the judges! And do we have some really awesome prizes! These cool items have been kindly provided by our friends over at Intel, HyperX, Tobii Eye Tracking, and Thrustmaster. We can't wait to see who's going to grab them, and who's going to be the ultimate Trucks World Cup 2020 winner!

In 2015, Spain produced 2.7 million cars which makes it the 8th largest automobile producer in the world and the 2nd largest car manufacturer in Europe. As our team continues to work on Iberia for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we couldn't miss the opportunity to represent this important industry.
Thanks to the ports across Iberia with connections to Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Atlantic, shipping across the world makes Spain and Portugal an ideal location for automobile manufacturers. Some of these operations are so large that many ports have their own dedicated car shipping terminals which are solely dedicated to the transporting of automobiles overseas.
However, car ports are not the only new prefabs you will find around Iberia. Drivers will play a vital role in delivering parts and cars to and from the various car factories to the shipping terminals. With millions of cars rolling off the production line each, you will have no shortage of logistic jobs in this industry.
Back in 2019, four members of our American Truck Simulator map team (Nicolaj Toft Nielsen, Tomas Opekar, Tomas Dubsky and Patrik Sadlon) took to the skies and traveled across the pond to the USA on a very important research trip. While we couldn't tell you at the time (as it would ruin the surprise), our team made sure to keep a detailed account of their trip, and here are just some of the highlights of what they got up to.
Traveling over 2000 miles in just 7 days, they managed to visit everything they had planned on their list. From capital cities to small towns and everything else in between, our team had an important task to complete; to photograph and document various locations around Colorado to assist in the creation of our upcoming map expansion.
"Our trip across Colorado was a really unique experience for me, not just because I was in US for the first time, but mainly because of how diverse Colorado is." Tomas O., one of our ATS map designers explains "We were able to see a big metropolitan area of Denver on the edge of the Great Plains, travel across the beautiful Rocky Mountains and through deep canyons to see vast desert landscapes around Grand Junction... considering our game and work, the trip was beneficial in many ways. We took a huge amount of reference pictures, which was especially useful in areas with no or low-quality Streetview photos"
"One might think that looking at pictures of such places is enough & that you do not need to visit these locations, but then when you do, you immediately gain an understanding of the size of that place, its orientation, what kind of buildings are there, what type of road material they use, what vegetation grows there and so on" Tomas D says "And you can feel the atmosphere and the vibe of towns, landmarks, truck stops and it really helped me gather inspiration out of it."
"The most beneficial thing for me was gaining a sense of the vastness and size. Especially when compared to Europe, where you have a city or village around every corner and freeways are divided with one crash barrier and not a 60 meters wide grass strip... One can easily miss roughness of the road and other subtle details as well as a sense for tilt and steepness. What seems like a completely straight road across a wide plain landscape on Google Maps, may not actually be like that in real life."
The team found many examples of this on their journey, as they discovered many natural features that would have not been picked up in online photo references. Locations such as the Million Dollar Highway where the team took references of various rock formations that would not have been visible from the public road, which included a waterfall running right underneath it! Instead, they made sure to take plenty of unique photos and videos from their journey, to show and share with their colleagues back in Prague.
Along their travels, the ATS map team also came across many of the truckstops that dominate the U.S highways. With each stop, the team learned something new about these rest spots for drivers and what makes each one unique. They even had the opportunity to chat with a few friendly truckers and ask a few questions! "The best part of the trip for me was definitely to see the big truckstops, services, those huge junctions and impressive road infrastructure." says Nicolaj T. "We learned an important lesson about how truckstops work and how we can make them much more realistic! For example, trucks always back into their parking place"
The team didn't just learn about the infrastructure of truckstops but also the environment that surrounds them as Patrik S. explains. "Now we all know truckstops are much noisier then we thought... we also saw some very unique cargoes parked at these truckstops, we made sure to take some inspiration for future ideas!"
So how does all of this translate in-game? Well, you'll just have to wait and see, but thanks to this trip, the ATS map team has gained an invaluable amount of information and understanding of Colorful Colorado. "I think it’s very important for developers to see the thing they are about to recreate, with their own eyes" Nicolaj T. explains. "Especially in this case where we are developing content from the other side of the world. Personally, I’ve never been to the states before, and I actually didn’t think to have a trip like this would change my perspective as much as it really did"
We hope that trips like this will help us push the quality level of our map expansions to an even higher level. That we will be able to recreate some of the places we visit more precisely than ever before. See the examples we've prepared for your below. Did we nail it?
Truck stops have served highway drivers for many years, providing fuel, food, and a place to rest for many weary travelers. Found along the highways of America, these stops have evolved into more than just a place to fill up the tank. From the small roadside fuel pump islands to large plazas with multiple amenities, major chains have developed, offering services across the country.
Each truck stop often has its own unique features to help drivers feel relaxed, such as a certain color or design that allows those who frequently experience a familiar feeling of being somewhere they know.
Just like their real-life counterparts, you will find many of these virtual truck stops on the highways and interstates of our upcoming DLC, Idaho. Each comes with their own unique look and feel and of course a place where truckers can fuel up and take a rest during their journeys. While you are fueling up, you may notice there is more space than before as each of the truck stops has been revisited to allow for a more realistic feel.
During your travels in Idaho, you will also come across new traffic light designs that are unique to the several cities they are found in. Although this may seem like a very minor change, drivers often spend a lot of time looking at the lights, so a change in design or looks can be very pleasing for most.
If you are ready to explore Idaho for American Truck Simulator, make sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist. You can also find exclusive pictures from Idaho posted across our Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram profiles.
And as promised, we've just released a small update for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator that contains a new cabin accessory items for all those who achieved their personal goal in our recent #TruckAtHome event! Once again we'd like to thank all of those who participated in this event! Stay awesome, stay healthy, and if you can, #TruckAtHome so we all can help the world get back to normal.
After much testing, feedback, fixing, and fine-tuning, we are excited to announce the arrival of update 1.37 for Euro Truck Simulator 2!
We'd like to thank every single one of you for all your help with your bug reports, opinions, and general feedback during the Open Beta. We hope you can now begin to fully enjoy the new features included within this update.
The main feature included with this update is the implementation of our new sound engine FMOD; which radically redefines the way we mix vehicle and environment sounds. This update includes revisited sounds of trucks' engines, new sounds for most of the AIs (including trains), reverb sound effects in tunnels, new train crossings sounds, the inclusion of a true Doppler effect for passing vehicles and more. This also brings an array of new sound options for users accessed from the main menu, which allows you to tweak many more individual sounds to your liking.
While there is still a lot of tweaking to do and more sounds to arrive, this is only the first phase. We will continue to improve based on feedback and implement changes throughout the year to come.
As a benefit from the new sound mixing approach, we are happy to bring you truck windows which you can open! You can now enjoy the continuum of sound levels between a well-insulated cabin with windows closed and the roaring traffic coming from the outside when you roll the windows all the way down. Give it a try especially when you hit the rush hour on the road or at a big junction.
Another addition that arrives with this update is our "walk-around feature." Our game world is generally not designed for exploration on foot, but we figure that fans may appreciate a new closer perspective to view their favorite machines in the upgrade shop. Getting up close may also be of use when you need to tune up your rig and match the color of your rims with the cabin's paint just right. So here we are with a little bonus feature of 1.37, an alternate way to control the camera in the game's service and vehicle browser. We had to redesign the "garage" scene a little to make more space and way for the cameras, hopefully, you will appreciate it.
Hungry for more? Then get ready for some food tanks! And we mean literally food tanks because, with this update, you can finally own this new type of trailer. These beauties were highly demanded for some time and so we're glad and proud we can bring them for you, our #BestCommunityEver!
We are also excited to bring to you a rework of 4 French cities in 1.37. Metz, Reims, Strasbourg, and Dijon will receive a fresh lick of paint with a rehaul of its roads which have been given a new look. We hope you will take the time to check these refreshed areas and send us your snaps of your first visit on our social media channels.
And last but not least, we're excited to announce the upcoming arrival of the official support for ASUS Aura for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Products supported include ASUS keyboards, mice, RGB mousemats and more. This brings a new level of immersion to your trucking experience with the inclusion of RGB support. You can expect to see a blog post with more details on the integration and the features that come with it in the near future.
To celebrate this new collaboration, we have released a very special ASUS ROG paint job for the Mercedes-Benz New Actros which is now available on the Steam Workshop for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - ASUS ROG Paint Job MOD
Now you can truck in style with your ASUS RGB setup, and ASUS ROG paint job! Adds a little bit extra to the immersion, doesn't it?

TOBII EYE TRACKING
- Eye-tracking pause key function fixed
- Automatic eye-tracking pause while the game is paused/in UI
- Settings hotkey visibility in UI
- Ingame sounds completely reimplemented for FMOD
- Engine power range data (instead of boost value)
- Exhaust gas temp gauge animation
- AI data tweak (engine power instead of torque and gearbox, vehicle_mass override for trailers)
To enjoy the 1.37 update, make sure to OPT OUT of beta branches and your game will be automatically updated on Steam.
For the legacy non-Steam edition of ETS2, the update should be ready in a few days.
Some mods, however, may have not caught up yet - this update may effectively break them. So remember that you can always stay on 1.36 or an even older branch. The way to access and select them is: Steam client → LIBRARY → right-click on Euro Truck Simulator 2 → Properties → Betas tab → select the version you want.
It's time to officially start the Truck World Cup 2020 in collaboration with Renault Trucks! After receiving more than 3100 entries to the competition inbox, select members from the SCS Software and Renault Trucks teams took on the daunting task of picking 32 entries to proceed into the next round.
This was by no means an easy task, as we sorted through thousands of different variations of Renault Trucks in accessorized with different custom paint jobs, modifications, and much more. We were overwhelmed by the staggering amount customizations made possible by talented modders from around the world.
So, who are the 32 participants, and what happens next? You can check the competition board, on which all these lucky players are already sorted into groups. Can you see your name/nickname there? Congratulations if you do! Want to see what screenshots were selected? Check out the video posted on our Instagram profile, Renault Trucks Instagram profile, or the dedicated Facebook page!
Every single participant will have to match against everyone in his base group, then two best of each group moves into 1/8 final rounds, from where winners move to 1/4 final rounds, then again winners gets to 1/2 final rounds and then, the grand final match between the two most successful participants will take place.
When these matches are going to happen? When you should be ready to vote for your favorite, or for yourself? See the full schedules of base groups matches below! Each of the dates listed below, starting at 13.00 CEST time, the voting will start! Or simply keep an eye on our and Renault Trucks' social media channels as everything will be posted there!
Starting tomorrow (Friday the 1st of May, 13:00 CEST, SCS Software Instagram profile) it is up to YOU to vote for your favorite Renault Truck as they go head to head a series of voting rounds hosted on our Instagram and Renault Trucks Instagram, in Instastories section. With an amazing array of prizes to be won (see the previous blog post if you've missed it), be sure to help your fellow trucking friends by voting on each round!
I would like to celebrate an anniversary with you today. Back in 2010, I started this blog as a way to keep the community updated and to quote the very first post - "to post screenshots of games under development, share behind the scenes information, and point out interesting places on the net related to SCS Software's games."
Frankly, I was not fully aware of what kind of commitment I had created for me and eventually for a small team here at SCS. Initially started as a small one-man show done on the side in the evenings, today each blog post occupies several people to iterate on screenshots or videos, draft, review, and cross-check the text across our teams to make sure we are not forgetting anything, and to format it for publication across several online platforms. It's a labor of love and we enjoy the interaction with our games' fanbase very much.
This little blog has been growing over the years. We are regularly reaching over a million page views per month, and we have already passed the massive milestone of over one hundred million page views total.
This is far from the complete picture, while the blog is our oldest communication platform, the newer kids on the social media block are incredibly strong, too. While most of our content originates on the blog to be adapted for reposting, there are actually even more readers on our SCS Software, ETS2 Facebook, and ATS Facebook pages. Our Twitter is at almost 100K followers, 150K followers on Instagram, and a huge number of people are reading the news via Steam community updates. Our YouTube channel has close to a quarter-million subscribers, and we are looking to establish yet more presence online on platforms like Twitch and Weibo, all the time still being active on our forums.
Boasting these numbers is not mere vanity. When talking to industrial partners, having a strong online presence is immensely useful. It is the best proof of the relevance of our simulation games in the eyes of marketing departments of vehicle manufacturers, helping us a ton in winning their support when we approach their licensing departments. That's why we are constantly trying to attract more of our players to follow us and subscribe to the various sites. We have even started using a new trick recently, with each of the social media sites getting exclusive screenshots in addition to the core set shared in an original blog post.
No matter which site or service you use to follow the news we publish, we feel honored to share the road with you, our fans. We have come a long way, and still, I think we're only at the start of much bigger things. We have so many cool features in development, our team has grown in size and productivity to create fantastic new content, and with your support, our games have a bright future ahead of them.
Thank you, and see you soon with blog post #1,001!
CEO, SCS Software

While our company continues to work from home during this difficult time, most of us have settled into creating our own little office working space within our living space (see our first home office blog post). Although working from home does have it own challenges, the main one being distractions! From home pets to family, many of our team members have settled and created their own workspace to help them keep focused during this time.
So what do some of these home work-spaces look like? We asked more of our team to send in photos of their home setups to share with you our community (just don't judge too hard!) Do you have a favorite? Plus, those with a sharp eyesight might spot a teaser of something our map designers are working on which has not been announced yet.
We'd like to remind you the importance of social distancing and staying at home if it's possible. The world around us is going through a difficult time and all of us should do our part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. We understand that the longer we need to stay home the harder it can become, but please if you can, stay home and isolated from others. Stay safe, stay healthy, #PlayApartTogether and remain the #BestCommunityEver!
